Journal policy

        The ideological basis of the journal "Herald of the Ural State University of Railway Transport" is its title 'herald' (which means 'a person who proclaims or announces significant news') i.e. the objective informing of academic community about scientists' advances.

        The basic content of the journal are the scientific articles. But the journal will also tell about intellectual property, interesting patents, published monographs, and theses' defense. On the pages our journal we will also publish sponsored articles about outstanding scientists, new scientific schools and discoveries, about science development.

        In scientific-technical journal "Herald of the Ural State University of Railway Transport" there are published fundamental and applied researches results, experimental developments in transport field, machine building, management, computer engineering and computer science, economics, philosophy and other fields investigated by university scientists, foreign scientists, institute scientists and also research materials.

        Papers sent for publication can be of different kinds: starting from theoretical issues statement, new research directions development end with analysis and specific researches.

        The web-site of the journal : http://www.vestnik.usurt.ru is presented both in Russian and English languages.

        Such information as data about authors, the title of the article and abstract is subject to translation into English. The references are presented in two variants: translation into English and in Roman script (transliteration).

        In order to conduct the expertise of manuscripts in the journal "Herald of the Ural State University of Railway Transport" there is an obligatory four-stage review.

        The first level - main editor peer review;

        The second level - open peer review (the author and reviewer know each other) - the review is submitted to the Editorial Board by the author;

        The third level - single-blind review (the reviewer knows about the author, the author doesn't);

        The fourth level - double-blind review (both the reviewer and the author don't know each other).

        Development of the journal "Herald of the Ural State University of Railway Transport" consists of three stages.

        The first stage (2009 year). The journal was published in Russian. This stage is over.

        The second stage (2010-2011 years) the journal is published in combined variant. All the information about the journal, its content, articles' title, information about the authors, annotations (author's abstracts) and list of references on literary resources are in English. In addition some articles are written in English.

        In this format the journal is published in print version and is put on the journal website, in the database of Russian citation index, and since 2011 in the international database SKOPUS.

        The third stage (perspective - 2012 year). The journal will be fully translated into English with the publication of Russian print version and English version will be available on the website.

        We are sure that by means of "Herald of the Ural State University of Railway Transport" we will manage to broaden the audience of research papers of scientists both from Russia and other countries, which will contribute to the development of world science.
